Saxons Qualify for Finals!

Four places in the Finals weekend at Alexandra Palace, three teams had already secured their places so it was a straight shoot-out between Bullets and Saxons (see what I did there? ;-))

The situation was clear, winner takes all!

It was an extremely close contest with Bristol gaining an early lead from the Open Singles, but Saxons pegging it back a bit in the Women's Doubles.

The Open Doubles went to a first to 5 shoot out, which Bristol narrowly won 5-4 despite some heroic defending from Brandon and Callum at the end. Bullets were just 6 points ahead at this stage.

The decisive move then came in the WS with a master class from Leona against the valiant young Martha. After two dominant sets Saxons were back in front but with just a slender 5 point margin. Remember there's 5 points for winning the final match: the Mixed Doubles.

The first set went to Chloe and Callum 15-13 (we are now 7 points ahead), the second set was level until midway before Saxons got ahead to finish 15-10 winners.

Scores against Manchester

Wow! What a great night of badminton. We had some terrific performances from both sides.

We had a visit from local players of the Special Olympics group and a very engaged crowd.

Our final match of the regular season is away at Bristol on Friday 17th April. The top four teams then progress to the NBL Finals to be played in London on Saturday 23rd May.
